content
The focus of the action is chief detective Jasmin Sayed ( Sesede Terziyan ), who heads the newly launched pilot project “Water Crime Department Eins der Wasserschutzpolizei Berlin”, WaPo Berlin for short. She puts together a team that includes Paula Sprenger ( Sarina Radomski ), with whom Sayed has been friends since childhood. The captain of the “Silbermöwe” is Wolf Malletzke ( Christoph Grunert ), as well as the young police officer Fahri Celik ( Hassan Akkouch ) and the inspector candidate Marlene Weber ( Melina Borcherding ). Marion Kracht as police chief and Juri Padel as Jan Conrad can be seen in other permanent roles .
Background and filming
The series is produced by Saxonia Media Filmproduktion on behalf of ARD . Since Berlin is one of the most water-rich metropolises in Europe, the idea of establishing another WaPo row in the capital was obvious. The series was developed by Andreas Dirr and Andreas Hug based on an idea by Kerstin Lipownik. The first season (episodes 1-8) was filmed from May 14th to August 8th, 2019. Directed by Sascha Thiel and Neelesha Barthel.
Police commissioner candidate Marlene Weber wears the rank badges (shoulder pieces) of a police commissioner (at the Berlin waterway police) in the series. The background to this is that the Berlin waterway police have no candidate ranks, as they are recruited exclusively from experienced officials who have completed their training and first years of service "ashore" and thus at least with the entry level after the training of the relevant career (in this case, senior service, i.e. Police Commissioner). Therefore, in contrast to other water protection police (e.g. Hamburg for the middle service), there are no corresponding badges.
