Reiches Erbe is a German TV film directed by Sigi Rothemund from 2014 , based on the novel of the same name by Donna Leon . It is the 20th episode of the ARD crime film series Donna Leon with Uwe Kockisch as Commissario Guido Brunetti in the lead role.

According to her family doctor's death certificate, Signora Altavilla passed out of life due to heart failure. But third people notice the strangling marks on the dead person. In fact, she did not die of natural causes. Commissario Brunetti investigates where she last lived in the “Sao Polo” retirement home and learns from the roommates that she recently convicted the carer Sergio Cuccetti of fraud. For Brunetti, the nurse would have a prime motive for murder. But the public prosecutor Salvatore Patta, the son of Brunetti's superior Vice-Questore Patta, is constantly interfering in his ongoing investigations, which massively hinders his work and the investigation into the murder of the old lady.
