Death between the lines is a German TV movie of Sigi Rothemund from the year 2017 , which on the novel by Donna Leon is based. It is the 23rd episode of the ARD crime film series Donna Leon with Uwe Kockisch as Commissario Brunetti in the lead role.

Former Venetian priest Enrico Franchini, who made collecting precious historical writings his passion, is found dead in his apartment. First evaluations of his computer lead to the Biblioteca Merula. The director, Dottoressa Fabbiani, informed the investigators that pages were torn out of some of the writings and stolen. Such sites are often offered on the black market, where the murdered priest also had relationships. The colleague Piero Sartor and the American historian Joseph Nickerson are targeted by Commissario Brunetti.

criticism

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the film a medium rating and pointed with their thumbs to the side. So the plot "dragged on with difficulty", and they spoke of a "public law sleep aid".
