Schöne Schein is a German television film by Sigi Rothemund from 2012 , based on the novel of the same name by Donna Leon . It is the eighteenth episode of the ARD crime film series Donna Leon with Uwe Kockisch as Commissario Guido Brunetti in the lead role.

action

Commissario Guido Brunetti meets Franca Cataldo from his noble father-in-law, whose face appears rather rigid due to various cosmetic surgeries. Nonetheless, Cataldo is able to win over Brunetti through her erudition. He decides to invite her to his home, much to the disapproval of his wife Paola, who was looking forward to a nice, quiet evening. The next day he is called to a new crime scene. The freight forwarder Ranzato, who did odd business with Franca Cataldo's husband Maurizio, was found dead. A burglary was simulated on site, but too amateurish for the commissioners to be swayed by it for a long time. In his investigation, the inspector has to deal with the Venetian mafia of illegal toxic waste, in which the dead was involved.

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave the film a medium rating, they pointed with the thumb to the side. They stated: "Offers as much depth as a gondola ride".
