Detlef Koenig

Detlef König (* 1938 in Hagen ; † September 21, 1981 ) was a German law scholar and professor at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Live and act

König studied law at the Universities of Bonn and Freiburg . In 1961 he passed his first state examination in law in Freiburg. From 1964 he worked in Freiburg as a research assistant to Ernst von Caemmerer at the institute for foreign and international private law there. After completing his legal clerkship, König passed his second state examination in 1968. As early as 1967 he was from the University of Freiburg with the comparative law thesis The Enrichment Claim against the third-party recipient of a contractual service under French law to become a Dr. iur. been awarded a doctorate. In 1976 he completed his habilitation in Freiburg with a thesis on enrichment law for private law and comparative law. In the same year he was appointed Scientific Councilor and Professor at the University of Bonn. Also in the same year he accepted a professorship from the University of Mannheim for a full private law chair. In 1979, König moved to Heidelberg University , where he held the full professorship for civil law, commercial law and business law, comparative law and private international law until his early death in 1981. From 1980 he was also managing director of the Heidelberg Institute for Comparative and International Private Law. He was also professeur associé at the University of Montpellier .

König's main research interests lay primarily in enrichment law and in comparative private law. His work, which was not very extensive due to his early death, received widespread recognition in the professional world and was widely praised and quoted. Upon his death, King left behind his wife and three children.
