Ueli Jäggi (born October 8, 1954 in Olten , Canton Solothurn ) is a Swiss actor and radio play speaker .

Life

After studying German, Romance languages ​​and history, he attended the Acting Academy in Zurich from 1979. His first engagements took him to the Theater der Jugend in Munich and the Schauspielhaus Nürnberg. In the 1980s he played at Theater Basel , where he met Christoph Marthaler , in whose productions he is almost always cast. In the 90s he played at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz . From 2000 to 2004 he was a permanent member of the ensemble of the Schauspielhaus Zürich , directed by Marthaler . Since then he has been working as a freelance actor and director. At the Lucerne Theater in 2004 he directed the Swiss-German version of “The End of the Beginning” by Sean O'Casey . In 2007 he directed Friedrich Dürrenmatt's “The Promise” in Lucerne and “Der Gehülfe” based on the novel by Robert Walser at the same house in 2009 . In 2010 he directed “In Amrains Welt, in search of the rediscovered time” based on texts by Gerhard Meier . In 2016 he staged “America” based on Franz Kafka at KonzertTheaterBern. He wrote “Usflug”, a play for children, with Beat Fäh.

In addition to his theater work, Ueli Jäggi also took on film roles (including in " Donna Leon - Commissario Brunetti") and was involved as a speaker in numerous radio plays . Since 2008 he has been speaking to the chief detective Xaver Finkbeiner in the episodes of the ARD radio Tatort produced by SWR .
