Still Waters is a German TV movie of Sigi Rothemund from the year 2019 , which on the novel by Donna Leon is based. It is the 26th and last episode of the ARD crime film series Donna Leon with Uwe Kockisch as Commissario Brunetti in the lead role.

After a circulatory collapse , Commissario Brunetti recovers on the island of San Erasmo . There he met the beekeeper Davide Casati, who already knew his father well. But after a storm a few hours after their conversation, Brunetti finds him dead in the lagoon . Because Casati was very keen on water during his lifetime and very vital to the end, the inspector suspects a crime. After all, the beekeeper had often argued with his neighbor, a vegetable farmer, because his pesticides would poison his bees. Brunetti declares himself fit for duty in order to investigate the case that is very close to him.

Still Waters was filmed from April 11, 2018 to June 16, 2018 at the same time as the 25th episode Eternal Youth in Venice and on the Venetian island of Sant'Erasmo , which is called "San Erasmo" in the film. The bee recordings were made at the Miele di Sant'Erasmo di Mavaracchio Elio apiary .

The first broadcast on Das Erste took place on December 25, 2019 at prime time . On January 3, 2020, the episode was released as a crime thriller edition on DVD together with the previous case Ewige Jugend by Universum Film .

Although it was announced before the broadcast of Still Waters that it would be the last episode of the series, this is not immediately apparent from the plot. At best, indications can be understood as indications of Brunetti's advancing age and poor health, which apparently go hand in hand with a certain degree of fatigue on the part of the inspector. These plot elements are, however, also contained in Leon's book template. Unlike the TV series, the book series will continue until further notice.

Still Waters is the first episode of the series that was created without the involvement of actor Michael Degen . The reason given is that the Vice Questore Patta, embodied by Degen, is currently on the Way of St. James with his son .
