Professor T. is a German television series that was produced by Rowboat Film- und Fernsehproduktion for ZDF from 2017 to 2020 . Matthias Matschke can be seen in the leading role as Professor T.
Professor T. is an adaptation of the series of the same name from Flemish Belgium , which has been running on Belgian TV channel Eén since 2015 and with 39 episodes so far . As the best foreign fictional series, it was awarded the jury prize at the “Festival de la fiction TV de La Rochelle ”.
The first season of the German adaptation was filmed with the German actors in the original sets in Antwerp . It consists of four seasons with four episodes each. The last season aired in May and June 2020.
The television series was also adapted in French under the title Prof T. A six-episode season was filmed to be broadcast in Wallonia, Belgium on RTBF La Une and on TF1 in France. Further adaptations in the USA, Italy and Denmark are currently being planned.

Professor Jasper Thalheim, also known as "Professor T.", is a lecturer in criminology and criminal psychology at the University of Cologne . He is highly regarded by professionals, but has only poor social skills and bluntly expresses his opinion, which annoys the people around him. In addition, he suffers from his excessive urge to clean and is afraid of germs. He is known for wearing blue gloves a lot. His former student, Detective Inspector Anneliese Deckert, asks him for help with a case because of his expertise. Then Professor T. works as an advisor to the Cologne Criminal Police Office. However, working with T is complicated because of his arrogance and know-it-all. Chief Inspector Rabe in particular is angry that T. doubts his competence and thereby undermines his authority. Professor T. sees the director of the criminal investigation department, Christina Fehrmann, again at the Cologne Police Department, with whom he had been in a relationship a few years earlier .

Professor Jasper Thalheim (Professor T.)
Professor Jasper Thalheim is regarded as a scientist in his field of criminalistics and criminal psychology, but is unpopular because of his lack of social skills and his know-it-all. He also suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder , which manifests itself in excessive hygiene and fear of infection. That is why he almost always wears blue hygiene gloves and always has disinfectant spray with him. After supporting his former student Anneliese and her colleague Daniel on a case, he is hired as an advisor to the Cologne Criminal Police Office. However, you always have to motivate him to work because he only takes on cases that interest him personally. At the Kripo he meets his ex-girlfriend Christina Fehrmann, the director of the criminal investigation department.
In the fourth episode of the fourth season, his girlfriend Christina Fehrmann is murdered. After Professor T. has solved the case, he leaves the murderer to Commissioners Winter and Lindbergh. However, he is shot by Christina Fehrmann's murderer and falls from the roof of the university.
Anneliese Deckert
Anneliese Deckert is an ambitious young investigator for the Cologne Criminal Police Office who subordinates her private life to her job. She only takes time to care for her father, who is suffering from dementia. She doesn't always follow the rules when trying to solve a case. For example, without the knowledge of her superiors, she hired Professor T. to help her solve a criminal case.
At the end of the fourth and final episode of the third season, Murderer , she follows Zander into the harbor and surprises him when he inspects the cocaine that Reuter is hiding. Zander then shoots Anneliese Deckert. The episode ends at this point, the viewer remains in the dark about the further events.
Daniel Winter
Daniel Winter is Anneliese's team partner. He is balanced and can always curb Anneliese's excessive zeal and stubbornness in good time. He had a one night stand with her , but no further relationship resulted from that. Daniel Winter thinks Professor T. is a strange person and is amused by his neuroses , but is also fascinated by him.
Greta Lindbergh
In the fourth season, Cornelia Ivancan replaces the murdered Commissioner Anneliese Deckert as Greta Lindbergh.
Christina Fehrmann
Christina Fehrmann is the director of criminal investigations in Cologne and is the line manager of Anneliese Deckert, Daniel Winter and Paul Rabe. She had a love affair with Professor T. and often has conflicts with him at the Cologne Criminal Police Office. In contrast to Professor T., in addition to her specialist skills, she also has social skills .
In the third and fourth episodes linked in terms of content, she quits her job like Professor T. At the end of the third episode of the fourth season she is summoned by someone and at the beginning of the fourth episode she is lethally gunned down by that person and then dies in the hospital.
Paul Rabe
Chief Inspector Rabe is the team leader of Criminal Inspection I. He prefers a practical approach and teamwork in solving his cases. So he doesn't like the advisor Professor T., who is an intellectual loner. Chief Inspector Rabe is often choleric . At the beginning of the series, he develops an alcohol problem out of grief over the death of his daughter in a traffic accident, so that he is of little help in the investigation. He is then briefly suspended from duty. He regularly stalks Reuter at night, his daughter's opponent in the accident, whom he describes as her murderer. At the end of season 2 he is shot dead by Reuter during a poorly prepared arrest and dies in Thalheim's arms.
Simon Zander
With the beginning of the third season, Simon Zander will fill the position of the deceased team leader Paul Rabe.
