Christine Harbort

Christine Harbort (born April 27, 1949 in Oschersleben (Bode) , † June 17, 2003 in Berlin ) was a German actress and director .

life and work

Christine Harbort initially completed an apprenticeship as a medical-technical assistant before she was trained at the Rostock Drama School from 1969 to 1972. During her apprenticeship, she made her debut at the Volkstheater Rostock in 1972 , followed by engagements at the stages in Stralsund and Rostock. She also had appearances at the Berlin cabaret " Die Distel ". She made her comrade debut in the 1970s with appearances in the Polizeiruf-110 series, followed by smaller roles in television productions. Director István Szabó cast the actress in 1980 for his Oscar-winning film Mephisto , where she played the role of Lotte Lindenthal alongside Klaus Maria Brandauer and Rolf Hoppe . Since she was considered politically unreliable, she received no permission from the GDR authorities to accept further offers abroad.

In the early 1980s Harbort began studying directing at the Institute for Drama Directing in Berlin. Since 1984 she has worked as a freelance actress and director.

Christine Harbort was the sister of the sculptor Jo Harbort .
