Vsevolod Vishnevsky ( Russian Всеволод Витальевич Вишневский ; born December 8 . Jul / 21st December  1900 greg. In St. Petersburg ; † 28. February 1951 in Moscow ) was a Russian-Soviet journalist and playwright.

Life

He was born into a family of professors. At the age of 14 he gave up high school without his parents' knowledge and joined the tsarist fleet. Even as a sailor in the Baltic Fleet , during the revolution and civil war , he was a combative writer-correspondent, publicist and novelist. At the end of the twenties he became well known for his civil war drama The First Cavalry Army . In the mid-1930s he was one of the organizers of the International Anti-Fascist Congress in Defense of Culture and took part in the work of this congress in Madrid and Valencia . At the beginning of the Second World War , the writer was in Leningrad . Vishnevsky returned to the ranks of the Baltic Fleet and took an active part in the defense of Leningrad as a naval officer and correspondent of Pravda . For a number of years he was Deputy Secretary General of the Union of Writers of the USSR and also editor-in-chief of the Soviet literary magazine Znamia ("The Banner"). He died after a long and serious illness.

He was married to Sonja Vishnevskaya. Already sick herself, she edited and published her husband's entire estate after Vishnevski's death in 1951. She died in March 1962.
