Stalin Prize
The Stalin Prize , the highest civilian award in the Soviet Union , was created in 1941 to honor outstanding achievements in the scientific, literary, artistic or musical fields. The prize was often awarded for individual works by an artist. A commission for awarding the Stalin Prize existed to select the winners .
After 1954, the award was known as the Lenin Prize ; the USSR State Prize was introduced as its successor in 1966 .
