Galina Nikolayeva ( Russian Галина Евгеньевна Николаева ., Scientific transliteration Galina Nikolaeva Evgen'evna * 5 . Jul / 18th February  1911 greg. In the village Usmanka in Tomsk Governorate ; † 18th October 1963 in Moscow ) was a Russian writer . She wrote under this pseudonym, her real name was Galina Woljanskaja (Russian: Галина Волянская).

Life

Nikolayeva studied medicine in Nizhny Novgorod from 1929 to 1935 , and from 1942 to 1945 she worked as a military doctor in the Volga region and in the North Caucasus. From 1945 she worked as a writer and journalist in Moscow. From 1939 she wrote poems, novels and short stories in the style of socialist realism . In 1951 she was awarded the Stalin Prize 1st class for the novel Harvest . From 1954 until her death she was a member of the board of the Writers' Union of the Soviet Union or the RSFSR .

Her best-known novels are harvest (Russian: Жатва, 1950) and battle on the road (Russian: Битва в пути 1957), which was the model for the Soviet film of the same name in 1961 and, in its revised version from 1959, was one of the standard works of Soviet literature.

For her services to the Soviet Union she was awarded two medals (1961 - Order of the Red Labor Banner ). After her death, her diary was published in 1964 under the title Our Garden (Russian: Наш сад).

In 1962 in the GDR she was awarded the Badge of Honor of the Society for German-Soviet Friendship .
