Helge Lang

Helge Lang (* 1952 in Magdeburg ; † August 3, 2015 ) was a German actor .

Life

Helge Lang was born into a theater family with his twin brother Uwe, his parents were the actors Ursula Schleicher and Walter Lang. At the age of 20, Lang began studying at the State Drama School in Berlin . In 1976 he came to the Meininger Theater , of which he was a member until 2009.

In the more than 30 years of his affiliation with the Meininger Theater, Lang has appeared in around 140 roles, including as Puck in William Shakespeare's Midsummer Night 's Dream , as Grandmother in Ödön von Horváth's Tales from the Vienna Woods or as Lucky in Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett . Lang also played the bailiff Frosch in the Johann Strauss operetta Die Fledermaus , the farmer Veit Tümpel in Heinrich von Kleist's comedy The Broken Jug or Weeping Willow Walter in the Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill . His last role was that of Philemon in Goethe's Faust II in 2009 .

Helge Lang, who had rarely appeared in front of the camera in his artistic career, died at the age of 62 in August 2015 after a long, serious illness.
