Günter Beck is a fictional person from the DFF and ARD crime series Polizeiruf 110 , who was played by Günter Naumann .

background

Günter Naumann took over the role of Captain Beck in 1988 and initially solved the " crossword puzzle case ", which is based on a true story. He investigated four more police call films that were produced by GDR television and German television broadcasting . After the station was closed, the police call and Beck initially disappeared from the screen. In 1992 the MDR initially broadcast two films still produced by the DFF with the commissioners Ehrlicher and Kain as films in the West German series Tatort and not as a police call . But since, among other things, With the Call Comes Death , also a film adaptation of a true story in which Beck played the commissioner, was also well received by the German public and the series Polizeiruf 110 was described as “worth preserving”, it was decided in 1993 for one Continuation.

The MDR again resorted to Beck, among other things, who now investigated the entire catchment area of the station (Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia). Günter Naumann initially played the role in four other films until 1995 and then had to take a break due to illness.

He returned in 1997 for one last case in Andreas Dresen's The Exchange . A farewell film was originally supposed to follow, but it was no longer made. The MDR then continued the series exclusively with the inspectors Schmücke and Schneider ( Jaecki Schwarz and Wolfgang Winkler ). After a total of 11 cases, he was the last investigator from GDR times to be retired.

Under the name Larsen , Naumann played another commissioner in the series SOKO Leipzig , who was based on his captain Beck.

The name "Beck" was inspired by the novel, very popular in the GDR, about a crime by the Swedish authors Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö , in which the commissioner is named Martin Beck. Günter Beck also received some traits from his Swedish role model.

figure

Günter Beck comes from Silesia and his parents were killed in a bomb attack during World War II . They were buried in Lutherstadt Wittenberg ( death in the power station ). He is initially a captain of the People's Police and takes charge of the " crossword puzzle " case. At the time of the change in the GDR ( Das Duell ) he clearly distances himself from the methods of state security and emphasizes that he has always been a criminalist. In the course of the reunification he was taken over as chief commissioner in the police service of the united Germany and from then on investigated in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.

Beck was married to Thea Beck ( Annekathrin Bürger ) and has a son Peter ( Peter Donath ) ( Das Duell ). The marriage breaks up due to the workload ( smoldering fire ).
