Peter Donath

Peter Donath (* 1962 in Meißen ) is a German actor .

Life

Peter Donath began studying at the Leipzig Theater Academy in 1987 , moved to the drama studio of the Dresden State Theater in 1989 , where he completed his training in 1991 with a diploma. His first engagement took him to the Bonn Theater in the same year , followed by engagements at the Central Saxon Theater , the Cottbus State Theater , the German-Sorbian People's Theater in Bautzen and the theaters in Erfurt and Aachen . In 2000, Donath took on a multi-year engagement at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam before moving to the Berliner Ensemble in 2004, to which he was a member until 2009. Since then, Donath has been seen at the Berlin Criminal Theater , the Landestheater Neustrelitz and the Theater der Altmark .

Benvolio and Tybalt in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet , Happy in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller , the secretary worm and the president of Walter in Friedrich Schiller's Intrigue and Love or Edouard Dindon in the musical La Cage aux Folles by Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein were several roles in Donath's stage career. In 2008 he was seen as Fritz Haarmann at the Berlin Criminal Theater in a stage version of the film Der Totmacher , directed by Wolfgang Rumpf . Other well-known directors that Donath worked with included Claus Peymann , Peter Zadek and Heiner Müller .

Donath has worked in front of the camera in several award-winning productions, such as Manfred Salow in the 1999 Grimme Prize- winning television film Abgehauen and in 2000 in Volker Schlöndorff's award-winning film Die Stille nach dem Schuss .

Peter Donath lives in Berlin.
