The Berlin Criminal Theater was founded in 2000 by the director Wolfgang Rumpf and the dramaturge Wolfgang Seppelt.

history

On April 13, 2000, the opening performance of the theater in Berlin-Wilmersdorf took place in the former cabaret theater by Dieter Hallervorden Die Wühlmäuse in Nürnberger Straße 33. The management consisted of Wolfgang Rumpf (artistic director and managing director), Wolfgang Seppelt (administrative director and chief dramaturge), Dennis Schönwetter (assistant to the management and head of press and public relations / marketing). The first production was The Eight Millionaires by Robert Thomas . Matti Wien played the main role and Wolfgang Rumpf directed the film. 2001 saw the premiere of the successful production Die Mausefalle by Agatha Christie , directed by Wolfgang Rumpf. The 1000th performance took place on June 17, 2011.

In 2003, due to the demolition of the old venue, the theater moved to the building complex of the Umspannwerk Ost in Berlin-Friedrichshain, Palisadenstr. 48 um. In the detective classic Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring (Premiere March 2009) played Renate Blume and Vera Müller the leading roles. The production for the 10th anniversary in April 2010 was the crime classic by Agatha Christie with Kaspar Eichel in the lead role. In March 2011 Umberto Eco's name of the rose in the play version and directed by Wolfgang Rumpf premiered in Berlin, with Felix Isenbügel in a leading role .

In September 2012, the thriller by Ira Levin Todesfalle premiered in Berlin , starring Thomas Gumpert and Felix Isenbügel, directed by Wolfgang Rumpf. In September 2013, a Berlin premiere of the psychological thriller celebrated The Soulbreaker of Sebastian Fitzek premiere. In March 2016, the thriller Mercy by Jussi Adler-Olsen premiered in a Berlin premiere. Sebastian Fitzek's psychological thriller Therapy premiered in a world premiere on September 29, 2016.
