Katrin Martin

Katrin Martin (born February 3, 1950 in Luckau ) is a German actress .

Life

Martin studied from 1968 to 1971 at the Rostock drama school . There she obtained a diploma as a certified stage actress.

This was followed by engagements at the Brandenburg Theater and Theater Neustrelitz ; She had guest appearances at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, among others . Her stage roles, among others belonging Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream , which Natascha in Depths of Maxim Gorky , the Maria in Yerma and Elisabeth in GlaubeLiebeHoffnung of Odon von Horváth . She has been working as a freelance actress since 1978. As a theater actress, she took part in several productions at the Berlin Criminal Theater , including The Twelve Jurors . In 2007 she took on the role of Henritta Westin in the thriller Before the Frost based on the novel by Henning Mankell .

From 1972 to 1990 Martin worked in a total of more than forty film and television productions for DEFA and German television broadcasting . She had her first film role in 1972 as the daughter of Rolf Herricht in the role of Gaby Piesold in the comedy The Man Who Came After Grandma . Due to her youthful appearance, she was often cast in the following years at DEFA with roles of princesses or young girls in fairy tale films . Her embodiment of Rosenrot in the fairy tale film Snow White and Rosenrot will be remembered .

After the fall of the Berlin Wall , Martin switched to radio play as a director , author and producer . She produced children's radio plays and directed an ensemble of children's speakers. She also worked as a speaker for radio features .

Martin also continued to take on smaller film roles, including as a teacher in Michael Knof's literary adaptation Jugend ohne Gott (1991) or in the film Stilles Land (1992) directed by Andreas Dresen . She also starred in several episodes of the crime series Polizeiruf 110 .

Martin plays the piano and sings in the alto range ; she speaks russian and english. Katrin Martin lives in Berlin .
