Michael Knof

Michael Knof (* 1949 in Halle an der Saale ) is a German film, television and theater director.

Life

Michael Knof studied theater studies and film and television directing at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the University of Film and Television Potsdam (diploma 1978). From 1968 to 1990 he worked for German television broadcasting . In addition, he worked at the Volksbühne Berlin and the Staatsschauspiel Dresden . He has been a freelance director since 1990. He teaches at the Potsdam Film and Television Academy and the Berlin Film Acting School. He is married to the actress Barbara Schnitzler and lives in Berlin. His stepdaughter Pauline Knof is a member of the ensemble at the Vienna Burgtheater .
