Angelika Mann (born June 13, 1949 in Berlin ; called die Lütte ) is a German singer and actress who began her professional career in the GDR and after her discovery by Klaus Lenz first became known as a singer alongside Reinhard Lakomy . After Lakomy's withdrawal from the live stage, she continued her musical career with her own bands (“Angelika Mann und Band”, then from 1980 “Obelisk”). In April 1985, after applying to leave the GDR in 1984, she settled in West Berlin , from where she continued her career as an actress and singer in the Federal Republic of Germany.

In addition to film and theater, she regularly appears in musical solo programs.

career

Mann grew up with a younger brother. After training as a pharmacy worker, she trained as a singer and pianist in East Berlin from 1969 to 1973 at the Friedrichshain Music School . She then took part in productions with the Klaus Lenz Big Band , Uschi Brüning , Manfred Krug , Günther Fischer and Reinhard Lakomy ( Traumzauberbaum , 1980).

In 1976 she signed the so-called " Biermann Declaration ". From 1980 to 1984 she celebrated great successes with her band Obelisk under the bandleader Andreas Bicking (1982 gold medal at the VI. Performers' Competition in the entertainment arts). She continued to work for the children's program Kling-Klang and in 1982 got her own TV program under the title Rock Music You Can Touch . In 1985 she left the GDR and traveled to West Berlin. Then Mann worked as a dialogue book author for the dubbing of television films and series such as Frasier and California Clan .

From 1987 to 1993 Angelika Mann appeared as Lucy in Günter Krämer's production of the Threepenny Opera in the Theater des Westens , in Hamburg , Cologne and in guest performances in Spoleto and Tokyo . Since 2005 she has played Snegurotschka , Babuschka, Mascha and the wet nurse at the Comödie Dresden in several episodes of the production Die Hexe Baba Jaga . In 2008 Angelika Mann performed with Achim Mentzel in the cabaret Die Kneifzange with the program I don't want chocolate . Since January 2009 she has taken on the role of the prison warden Frosch in the operetta Die Fledermaus in the Landestheater Altenburg and the stages of the city of Gera .

Since 2010 she has played the role of housewife Doris Bertram in the successful play Hot Times - Menopause (premiered in April 2010 in Essen, Theater im Rathaus ) and has since toured with this production in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. In 2013 and 2014 she appeared in the theater play Calendar Girls at Comödie Dresden alongside Renate Blume , Walfriede Schmitt , Viktoria Brams as well as Ursula Karusseit and Uta Schorn . In the role of housewife, she was back on stage in the Hot Times follow-up play Highest Time in the Theater am Kurfürstendamm in 2014.

In October 2015 she was voted "Most Popular Actress of the 2014/2015 Season" by the Friends of the Essen Theater in the Town Hall .

In the musical The Man with Laughing in the Dresden State Operetta (world premiere April 27, 2019) she took on the role of "Queen Anne Stuart" and won the " German Musical Theater Prize 2019 " for best actress in a supporting role. Since October 2019 she has been engaged at the Berlin Schlossparktheater and plays in the play “Ruhe! We're shooting! ”The film diva Anne at the side of Wolfgang Bahro and Karsten Speck .

Angelika Mann is married, lives in Berlin-Rudow and has a daughter.
