Der Traumzauberbaum is a story song production from 1980 as a radio play and stage show for children by Reinhard Lakomy (composition) and Monika Ehrhardt (texts). It was created in collaboration with Angelika Mann (vocals) and Veronika Fischer (vocals). Initially Der Traumzauberbaum was published by Deutsche Schallplatten Berlin , but is now available on CD along with ten other story song productions from Europa . Thirteen CDs have now been released and around four million records have been sold to date.

The songs of the productions each contain completed stories. These “story songs” are surrounded by a simple framework plot. The illustrations for the covers and booklets were created by Klaus Vonderwerth .

For the 35th anniversary of the dream tree, the Reinhard Lakomy Ensemble toured Germany in 2014/2015 with a stage show.

action

Somewhere behind the city grows the dream magic tree in the dream forest, on which leaves grow in all conceivable colors. A dream is hidden in every sheet. The two forest spirits "Moosmutzel" and "Waldwuffel" live in the tree, whose task it is to make the dream leaves ring with a golden tuning fork, which then fly to the children. The two have an aversion to rain, and when the magic dream tree sleeps, they tear off the blue dream leaves that contain the rain dreams and throw them away. But that angered "Zausel", the cloud spirit, very much. He gathers his clouds, and the brook that feeds the magic dream tree dries up. The dream leaves begin to wither to the horror of the magic dream tree, and soon bad nightmares threaten to rule the world. Fortunately, Waldwuffel overlooked one of the blue leaves, and this can appease the cloud spirit. The rain clouds and the brook return. Now it is time for the forest spirits to clean the golden dream leaves that contain the particularly beautiful dreams. The “good night fairy” wants to fly to the children on one of these sheets. The forest spirits and the dream tree say goodbye with the final song Traumreise , with which the radio play ends after around 44 minutes.
