Veronika Fischer
Veronika Fischer (born July 28, 1951 in Wölfis ; also called Vroni ) is a German singer .
Life
Fischer was born in Wölfis (near Gotha ) in Thuringia . In 1968 she began to study singing at the Dresden Music Academy Carl Maria von Weber . In addition, she appeared with various bands, for example with the Fred Herfter combo and in 1970 with the star combo Meißen . In 1973 her first long-playing record was released with the group Panta Rhei , which was jazz- oriented, with Herbert Dreilich , Ed Swillms and Henning Protzmann , among others , who later founded the group Karat . The titles Nachts and Blues were successful in hit parades such as the Beatkiste .
Fischer graduated from music studies in 1973 with the state examination as a soloist for chansons and musicals . A year later she founded the Veronika Fischer & Band group . In this band, Franz Bartzsch (piano, keyboard, vocals) was responsible for most of the compositions and arrangements. Guitarist and singer Johannes Biebl also played on the LP Veronika Fischer & Band . In 1974, The Blues from Last Opportunity appeared , which was also published on numerous compilations . Her first solo album was released in 1975 when she also took first place in the annual hit parade with In That Night . Her subsequent Amiga records sold more than 1.5 million copies, so that Fischer became the most successful interpreter in the GDR . In 1977 the backing band separated from Fischer to start a solo career as 4 PS . Veronika Fischer formed a new band around Thomas Natschinski . From 1979 she worked again with Franz Bartzsch at short notice. In the late 1970s she worked on two albums by Reinhard Lakomy with music for children ( story songs 1978 and Der Traumzauberbaum 1980). In 1979 their son Benjamin was born.
In 1981 Veronika Fischer left the GDR and moved to West Berlin after her house composer Franz Bartzsch and her then Hungarian husband Lászlo Kleber had also left the GDR. In the same year, WEA released the long-playing record Staunen . More albums followed, but Veronika Fischer was unable to build on the success she had in the GDR in West Germany. In 1983 she took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest . Her title Infinite Far reached eleventh and thus penultimate place. Notable successes later brought titles like The Evening Before the Storm , A Feeling Like Life and You Want Your Fun .
Shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Fischer made a successful guest appearance on GDR television and has been giving concerts in eastern Germany again since 1990.
In 1993 she released Son of My Neighbor on her album Was ist beim , a cover version of the song Son of a Preacher Man recorded in 1968 by Dusty Springfield . With Träumer wie wir , the version of a song by Renft writer Gerulf Pannach , she was featured in the ZDF hit parade in 1995 . She sang the children's musical Das Kind und der Kater and released other albums, including one with children's songs and a Christmas CD. For some time she has been working with the Berlin text author and writer Gisela Steineckert . This collaboration resulted in new songs and a biography of Veronika Fischer. Her 20th album, Unterwegs zu mir , was released in autumn 2008 .
In 2013/15, Fischer's application under the VwRehaG to participate in the sales of her four long-playing records released in the GDR was rejected.
