Gisela Steineckert
Gisela Steineckert (born May 13, 1931 in Berlin ) is a German writer and poet .
Live and act
Gisela Steineckert was born the second of four children of a maid and a tailor in Berlin and grew up there in poor conditions. During the Second World War she was evacuated to Austria and attended an elementary school there . In 1946 she returned to Berlin and worked as a social worker in kindergartens. Later she did a commercial apprenticeship and worked as an office assistant.
Since 1957 she worked as a freelancer in the GDR with short interruptions. From 1962 to 1963 she was the cultural editor of the satire magazine Eulenspiegel . From 1965 she was a member of the Berlin district committee of the GDR Writers' Association and began working in the singing movement (until 1973). In 1979 she became a member of the committee for entertainment arts in the GDR, of which she was president from 1984 to 1990. As a board member of the Central Lektorat at the State Committee for Broadcasting of the GDR, she had censorship influence on pop and rock texts and presented herself among other things. against the title of the Pankow group . In 1987 the song When I went away was published by the band Karussell , the lyrics of which are from her. Since 1990 she has been honorary chairwoman of the Democratic Women's Association
Gisela Steineckert lives in Berlin. Until 2016 she was married to Wilhelm Penndorf, a former radio editor-in-chief for music, in her third marriage. The writer Kirsten Steineckert is her daughter from her first marriage. Her second marriage was to Heinz Kahlau .
In addition to books (poetry, short prose, letters) she wrote many song texts (hits, chansons, children's songs, rock music) for various interpreters and worked on DEFA films .
Gisela Steineckert also takes a public position on cultural and general political issues. She is an active supporter and contributor to the left-wing daily newspaper Junge Welt , at whose “artist conference” in June 2019 she participated with Volker Lösch , Konstantin Wecker , Chris Jarrett , Black Heino and others, and is one of the permanent authors of the left-wing magazine RotFuchs .
