Eva Rohmann
Eva Rohmann , née Eva Hahn (born May 17, 1944 in Gera ) is a former German politician in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). From 1981 to 1990 she was a member of the People's Chamber and 1989/90 chairwoman of the Democratic Women's Federation of Germany (DFD).
Life
Rohmann's father was a bank clerk. After graduating from high school, she studied at the Institute for Teacher Education (IFL) in Gera from 1960 to 1963 . In 1962 she became a member of the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) and in 1963 of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). She worked as a teacher until 1965. In 1964 she became a member of the central management of the pioneer organization "Ernst Thälmann" and in 1965/66 she was deputy chairman of the district management of Gera-Stadt. In 1967 she became secretary of the Gera district leadership of the Free German Youth (FDJ). From 1967 to 1970 she was head of the youth and sport commission of the SED district leadership in Gera-Stadt.
1969 Rohmann joined the DFD. From 1970 to 1973 she studied at the SED party college "Karl Marx" and achieved a degree in social sciences . From 1973 to 1982 she was department head in the federal executive committee of the DFD and then until 1989 a member of the executive committee and the secretariat of the federal executive committee.
In 1981 Rohmann was elected to the People's Chamber and was there, as successor to Käthe Kern , from 1984 chairwoman of the DFD parliamentary group. From November 1989 to March 1990 she was a member of the Presidium of the People's Chamber.
In 1989/90 Rohmann was chairwoman of the DFD and then until her retirement in 2000 she was managing director of the DFD-emerged association democratic women's union (dfb). Rohmann now lives in Bruchmühle and is active in local politics for the SED successor party Die Linke .
