The Neustadt cemetery , Teutschenthaler Landstrasse 16, was built for Halle-Neustadt in the mid-1960s , making it the youngest cemetery in the city of Halle (Saale) .

The cemetery was laid out south of what was then Fernstrasse 80 on Teutschenthaler Landstrasse and is now in the area of ​​the Neustadt industrial area on the border with the Saalekreis .

History / description

When the new Halle-Neustadt district was built west of the city of Halle from 1964 , a new cemetery was also necessary. Because by the newly created city is also the site of the Adjust Dorfer claimed cemetery and was closed in 1965, a reburial of the people buried there, attended the memorial stone in the cemetery recalls.

The cemetery has an area of ​​11 hectares with around 7,500 grave sites. Due to the relatively large height differences and the soil conditions on the site, almost half of the area is only suitable for urn burials . Numerous staircases and embankments with around 850 trees give the cemetery a special character.
