Gianbernardino Scotti
Gianbernardino Scotti O.Theat. (* 1478 in Magliano Sabina ; † December 11, 1568 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .
Life
The Theatine monk Scotti was in the papal diplomatic service. He returned from this position in Germany at an advanced age and was made Archbishop of Trani in Italy and on the same day, December 20, 1555, was made cardinal by Pope Paul IV . In 1556 he received the titular church of San Matteo in Merulana as a cardinal priest . He was transferred to Piacenza in 1559 as Archbishop-Bishop . Scotti was involved in the reform work for the Tridentine Council .
He died in Rome in 1568 and was buried in the local basilica of San Paolo nella Via Ostiense .
