4 PS was a music group in the GDR . The band was founded in 1977 from the support band of Veronika Fischer and from 1979 played again as Fischer’s support band.

history

Volume 4 PS was created in early 1977 from Veronika Fischer's accompanying band. The founding members were Franz Bartzsch , Johannes Biebl , Frank Hille and Michael Kaszubowski. A short time later, Biebl left the band and the other musicians continued to operate as a trio. After Jürgen Ehle of Volume 49 had happened and Hans-Jürgen Reznicek Kaszubowski had replaced the band played from 1979 again as a backing band of fishermen.

The band's titles were monophonic or polyphonic vocal titles. The compositions came mainly from Bartzsch and Biebl. Kurt Demmler wrote the lyrics . The first single was released by Amiga in May 1977 and in September 1977 the band won the Grand Prix at the Dresden International Schlagerfestival with the two penny song . In October 1977 4 PS presented the first 90-minute program, which consisted exclusively of its own titles, and then went on a five-week tour through the Soviet Union . The music, a combination of rock and pop music with clear blues and chanson influences, was shaped by the close cooperation between Bartzsch and Biebl and their different musical experiences.

After Bartzsch in 1980 and Veronika Fischer in 1981 moved to the Federal Republic of Germany , Rainer Kirchmann (keyboard) from Prinzip and André Herzberg (vocals), formerly a juggler rock band , joined the band, which was henceforth called Pankow .

The founding members Bartzsch, Kaszubowski, Biebl and Hille left the GDR one after the other, as did Veronika Fischer.
