Rainer Kirchmann

Rainer Kirchmann (born June 3, 1952 in Luckenwalde ) is a German musician, singer, keyboardist, composer and lyricist.

Kirchmann became interested in music very early on. At the age of five he already presented his musical ambitions at family celebrations. At the age of six he got his own piano and received his first musical training on it. At the age of 15 he attended the special school for music in East Berlin , where he was supposed to complete his Abitur, in order to then study music at the “Hanns Eisler” University of Music in Berlin .

In 1968 he founded his first band with boarding school colleagues. After the tenth grade he went back to Luckenwalde and completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker with a high school diploma. In October 1969 he joined the Luckenwalde band “Die Raben” after the keyboardist left the band. He had his first television appearance in 1970 with Heinz Quermann in his talent show Herzklopfen for free . In 1972 there was a dispute within the band “Die Raben” and the band formed into the band “Impress” with the drummer Klaus Scharfschwerdt, who later joined the Puhdys . In 1974 he joined the band “Progressiv” and wrote his first song Das Telefon (Klammer / Kirchmann). At the same time he became a professional musician by attending the special class at the Friedrichshain Music School . There he met a leading member of the Principle group , which he joined in 1977. In 1980 Kirchmann went to Veronika Fischer's band 4 PS , because the songwriter and keyboardist, Franz Bartzsch , had stayed in West Berlin after a concert. In 1981 Veronika Fischer also stayed in the Federal Republic of Germany, the musicians from 4 PS:

Wolfgang Herzberg (alias Frauke Klauke), Andrés brother, wrote the lyrics for the rock theater play Paule Panke , which described the everyday life of an apprentice realistically. Pankow wrote the music and staged the piece. In 1982 the first productions were made in the studio as well as a live recording of the radio of the GDR from a concert in the House of Young Talents in Berlin, the publication of which failed in the year of its creation because of the texts that were perceived as not conforming to the system and which was only released shortly before the end of the GDR in 1989 on the state label Amiga .

In addition to Pankow, Kirchmann produced several songs as a soloist in 1982/83 for radio in the GDR . The song breeze of Karma / Kirchmann reached number 17 of the GDR years hit parade in 1984. In the spring of 1989 staged Gert Hof at the theater in Altenburg the play Nina, Nina tam Kartina, Kirchmann wrote for the theater music. In 1995 he composed the music for the feature film Whoever stops dies by Olaf Kaiser and Alexander Ris with Corinna Harfouch .

Kirchmann recorded two more albums with Pankow after the fall of the Wall and finally left the band in 1996. In 1990 he took part in Mikis Theodorakis' ensemble on his European tour and he worked on the cycle Sun and Time. In ARTE then appeared in the series MUSIC PLANET a film, announced in the Theodorakis: "What makes the work of Kirchmann, is that he very well musically converts the despair that goes into the songs."

From December 1996 to September 2002 he worked with the Berlin chanson singer and writer Annette Berr , producing a live album and the CD Mascara . From 1997 to 1999 he played in the summer in Weilheim in Bavaria at the theater ( Die Heiligen Johanna by George Bernard Shaw and Jedermann by Hugo von Hofmannsthal ). In addition, he wrote part of the songs for the film Abendland by Fred Kelemén in 1998 and played a supporting role as a bar pianist. In 1999 he composed the score for the film Tolle Lage by Sören Voigt , Michi Fanselow (a former GDR pop singer) played an important role in the film. In 2001 he composed the soundtrack for Olaf Kaiser's film Drei Stern Rot .
