Blues from the last chance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Blues from the Last Opportunity is a song by the singer Veronika Fischer from 1974. The composer is Franz Bartzsch , the text was written by Kurt Demmler .

history

Veronika Fischer separated from the GDR rock band Panta Rhei in 1973 and has performed with her own band since 1974 after completing her music studies. These included the keyboardist Franz Bartzsch, the drummer Frank Hille, the bassist Eckhard Kremer and the guitarist Eberhard Struch. Franz Bartzsch was responsible for the compositions and arrangements, while most of the texts were written by Kurt Demmler, who also wrote for numerous other musicians. The song reached front seats in the Tip Parade .

description

The piece is 3:52 minutes long. It's a rock ballad and - contrary to what the title suggests - doesn't follow the blues scheme . The song is instrumented with piano, acoustic guitar, electric bass and drums. The piece begins with a prelude with piano chords, after which Fischer's voice kicks in and quickly becomes dominant. She recites the verses with great emphasis. She is supported by accents of a background choir. The song has three stanzas and no chorus .

The song is about a young first-person narrator with a young, beautiful bird sitting on her windowsill. Your mother urges you to catch the bird because this might be your last chance. The singer is reluctant, however, and makes various arguments why the bird should be kept free. For example, his wings would wither in the room and a ring on his leg would squeeze him. Even if it is a beautiful bird, it should explore "every ten thousand winds". After the bird has flown away, the singer cries. Few lines of verse end in a rhyme; the rhymes are distributed irregularly in the text.
