Ballad (light music)

As a ballad in the light music an emotional style of music is called, which often deals with relationships or loneliness.

General

Ballads can be found in most musical genres such as pop , rhythm and blues , soul , country , folk , rock, and electronic music . The term power ballad has established itself for rock ballads, especially with regard to metal bands . According to music journalist Charles Aaron, power ballads came about in the early 1970s when rock bands tried to convey profound messages to audiences.

Ballads usually have a slow tempo. Typically, ballads use acoustic instruments such as a guitar , piano , saxophone, and sometimes an orchestral set . Some ballads contain synthesizers or drum machines .
