Beatbox
The Beatkiste was a music rating program in the GDR . It was broadcast from 1970 to 1990.
The Beatkiste was the first rated program for rock and pop music on GDR radio . The presented titles were mainly productions of the radio of the GDR. Other titles were German-language productions from countries of the CMEA as the people's republics and Poland. From 1971 on Radio DDR I there was the Tip Parade with a similar selection of titles.
The first moderator was the singer Frank Schöbel , after whom the show was initially called “Franks Diskothek” and later “Franks Beatkiste”. From 1972 the Beatkiste was broadcast in the program of the newly founded station " Voice of the GDR ". After Frank Schöbel had given up the moderation of the show, from September 15, 1973 it was finally only called "Beatkiste". The program ran every Thursday at 7:10 p.m. The transmission time was 50 minutes. The last broadcast was broadcast on March 29, 1990.
Since 2013 there has been another program under the title "Franks Beatkiste", moderated by Frank Gerstmann , broadcast on the open channel of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania media authority until August 2019 and on Radio Potsdam from September 2019 . However, this is not a rating program in the sense of the Beatkiste broadcast in GDR times.
procedure
Ten titles were placed each. The titles were played from 10th to 1st place. The vote was carried out by voting by postcard or letter. In addition, two new pieces were presented that could also be chosen. Titles were allowed to be placed a total of eight times before they were removed from the ranking.
