Kazumi Matsuo
Kazumi Matsuo ( Japanese 松尾 和美 , Matsuo Kazumi ; born April 18, 1974 in Kobe ) is a former Japanese marathon runner who is known in Germany for her surprising victory at the Berlin Marathon 2000 .
In 1999 she won the Hokkaidō Marathon in 2:32:14, in 2000 the Berlin Marathon in 2:26:15, and the following year she was Japanese with her personal best of 2:26:01 when she won the Nagoya Marathon Marathon champion. At the 2001 World Athletics Championships marathon in Edmonton , she finished ninth in 2:29:57.
In 2002 she married and retired from sports.
