Wolfgang Rumpf (director)
Wolfgang Rumpf (born December 8, 1948 in Bernburg (Saale) ) is a German theater director and artistic director .
Rumpf completed his studies in acting and directing at the State Drama School in Berlin . He was a directorial aspirant to Wolfgang Heinz at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. Since 1975 Rumpf has staged plays by Bertolt Brecht , Gotthold Ephraim Lessing , Gerhart Hauptmann , Agatha Christie , Felix Mitterer and other authors at various German theaters . He also directed operettas and cabaret.
In 1990 he became director of the Berlin cabaret Die Kneifzange . After 22 years of directorship, the cabaret closed at the end of October 2011.
In 2000 he and his long-time dramaturge and management partner Wolfgang Seppelt took over the management of the " Berliner Kriminal Theater " they founded .
In 1975 Rumpf was awarded the Handel Prize , the art prize of the city of Halle an der Saale . He lives in Leegebruch .
