Reginald Rose
Reginald Rose (born December 10, 1920 in New York City , † April 19, 2002 in Norwalk , Connecticut ) was an American screenwriter and playwright . Rose's work is characterized by its approach to controversial social and political issues. His realistic approach to writing helped found the " Slice of Life " narrative style in dramatic storytelling for television. This influenced, for example, the anthology series on US television in the 1950s.
Rose began working as a copywriter in 1938 after graduating from City College in New York . Between 1942 and 1946 he was a soldier in World War II and made it to lieutenant . From 1951 he wrote scripts for television programs and plays. His most famous work was the courtroom drama Twelve Angry Men ( Twelve Angry Men ), which he in 1954 as a television game in the series Studio One had written. In the 1957 theatrical version directed by Sidney Lumet with Henry Fonda in the lead role , Rose acted as a screenwriter and producer. In the following decades, other film adaptations of this piece followed. Even for the medical drama Isn't that my life? he wrote the script. Rose has received numerous awards for his work, including several Emmy Awards .
