Doktorspiele is a German crime film by Marco Serafini from 2003. It is the 250th episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 and the 22nd case for Schmücke and Schneider .

action

In the hospital in Halle there has recently been an increasing number of deaths from meningitis infection . The journalist Leo Preiss is on the trail of this possible scandal and tries to be admitted to the clinic. Although the chief physician there, Dr. Heiner Wolff sees through his simulation, he manages to “organize” a bed at short notice. This is in the same room as that of Inspector Herbert Schneider, who had to undergo an operation after a complicated broken arm. He notices the person next to him when he is busy typing on the laptop and is surprised when he hears the next morning that the patient has unfortunately died suddenly. After Preiss' colleague Kirsten Nolte reports that this sudden death does not seem normal to her, Commissioner Herbert Schmücke investigates and encounters strange circumstances. At first you don't want to show him the death certificate, then the corpse has disappeared, as has the dead man's laptop. Allegedly, Preiss died of a heart attack . After the corpse was accidentally moved and ordered back, the hearse had an accident and burned out. All of this is “lazy” for jewelery. Preiss' last research was for a Jutta Esche who was treated after a broken ankle in the Halle hospital and died unexpectedly of meningitis. According to the anesthetist, Dr. Renate Busse, the patient was anesthetized by spinal anesthesia , which explains a possible infection with meningitis pathogens for Schmücke.

It is very convenient for Schmücke that his colleague is still in the hospital as a patient and so he hopes to receive some internal information from him. Schneider learns that there are some quarrels among the station staff . The young AiPler Albert Kempter is permanently overtired and keeps himself fit with medication. In addition, the arrogant senior doctor Heiner Wolff has unhooked his girlfriend. Assistant doctor Dr. Julia Knabe finally wants to operate herself, but Wolff refuses to let her and harassed her. He even tries to extort sexual favors from her, which his current lover, sister Dorothea, does not hide.

According to Preiss research, there had been a burst pipe a few weeks ago in the basement of the hospital, which affected the warehouse for medical accessories. Although the hypodermic needles stored there were very likely contaminated and actually unusable, they were still used for reasons of economy. Dr. Wolff reportedly had issued an instruction that the materials were to be used. He denies any responsibility and puts his anesthesiologist on leave with immediate effect, who subjected him to these instructions. His popularity among the workforce continued to suffer and culminated in a fatal accident. Just as Wolff went on a rendezvous with assistant doctor Dr. Julia Knabe wants to go, he is deliberately run over by a car. The traces of paint lead to Volker Esche, who verifiably belongs to the accident vehicle. A possible act of revenge by the husband for the early death of the young mother caused by Wolff is quite conceivable, but too obvious for Schmücke.

However, Schmücke has to realize that he has been chasing a phantom up until now, because after Preiss' body was autopsied despite the burns, a heart attack actually turns out to be the cause of death. Nobody murdered him. However, his research in the hospital stirred up some dust that ultimately led to the suspension of Dr. Renate Busse led. Volker Esche is certain that he saw the doctor standing in front of his house the day before. When asked about her alibi, she says that she spent the evening at Dr. Having spent Julia Knabe so that she is not alone when Dr. Wolf would meet her.

One promising lead leads to sister Dorothea and her ex-boyfriend Albert Kempter. When he realizes that he has come under suspicion, he takes flight and is unlucky because he collides with Schneider's arm in a cast. On the basis of shoe adhesions that could be secured in the driver's area of the accident vehicle, Kempter can be proven beyond doubt.
