Pech und Schwefel is a TV film from the ARD crime series Polizeiruf 110 . The film was produced on behalf of the BR under the direction of Klaus Krämer and was broadcast for the first time on May 4, 2003 on ARD as the 249th episode of the crime series. It is the ninth case of the Munich police call investigator Jürgen Tauber and the sixth case for his colleague Jo “Josephine” Obermaier .

action

After the charred corpse of a boy was found on a construction site, the chief detective Jürgen Tauber and Jo Obermaier investigated the case. Apparently someone, very likely the victim himself, started a fire that got out of control.

Based on the tooth profile, the corpse can be assigned to the fourteen-year-old Leo Gasner. His parents are horrified and cannot explain what the boy wanted alone on the construction site.

Leon's best friend was Pepe Seibt, who claims to have last seen him on the afternoon of the fire. Tauber is certain that the boy knows more than he tells the investigators. Tauber tries to win the confused boy's trust, which he only manages with great difficulty. He approaches Pepe with great understanding and develops an almost fatherly relationship with him.

Based on the facts, it is certain that the Leo Gassner case was arson resulting in death through no third-party fault. For Obermaier, the case would be closed. However, Tauber is very worried about Pepe as he senses how much the boy is suffering from the death of his friend and possibly also has feelings of guilt that weigh on him. If he is complicit in the arson, his family could be liable for millions of dollars in damage. After a witness reports who has seen the two boys in a cinema how they tried to hide there to watch a horror film, Tauber realizes that he cannot leave the boy alone with his problem.

Pepe has meanwhile gone to the mountains with his mother because she noticed that the boy is becoming more and more withdrawn. She hopes that this will calm him down a little. Tauber and Obermaier follow the two and can just barely prevent Pepe from killing himself. So he breaks his silence and speaks from his soul, what burdens him so much: He wanted to make a fire with Leo that night and suddenly there would have been a bang and he could no longer help his friend.

criticism

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm appraise it: "A quiet crime drama with intense moments."
