Dana Vávrová
Dana Vávrová (born August 9, 1967 in Prague , † February 5, 2009 in Munich ) was a Czech - German film actress and film director .
Life
In Czechoslovakia, Vávrová became a child star at the age of six; she appeared in children's and fairy tale films and also starred in the children's television series Pan Tau and Die Märchenbraut . In 1982 she became known in Germany as a teenager through her role as the young Janina David in the multi-part television series A Piece of Heaven . For this role she received the Golden Camera and the Golden Gong . In 1983 she was awarded the Gold Adolf Grimme Prize (together with Leo Lehmann and Franz Peter Wirth ) for this series .
In 1986 she married the 28 years older director, cameraman and producer Joseph Vilsmaier , whom she met while filming further episodes of Ein Stück Himmel . In 1988 she played the lead female role as Anna Wimschneider in the film Herbstmilch under his direction . For this role, she and her film partner Werner Stocker were awarded the Bavarian Film Prize and the German Film Prize for Best Young Actress in 1989. In the same year she received the German Actor Award (Chaplin shoe) of the Federal Association of German Film and Television Directors. V. as the best young actress.
In addition to other film roles, often directed by her husband, she took on many television roles and also directed. She made her directorial debut with the film drama Hunger - Sehnsucht nach Liebe (1997), in which Catherine Flemming played the leading role. Later, instead of her husband, who was injured during the filming, she finished the Artur Brauner production The Last Train (2006).
Dana Vávrová was one of the founding members of the German Film Academy in 2003 .
The three daughters of Vávrová and Vilsmaier, Janina Vilsmaier , Theresa Vilsmaier and Josefina Vilsmaier , are also actresses. Her older sister, Hana Heřmánková , is known as a TV host in the Czech Republic.
In February 2009 Dana Vávrová died at the age of 41 from complications from cervical cancer .
