František Vláčil
František Vláčil (born February 19, 1924 in Český Těšín , † January 28, 1999 in Prague ) was a Czech director.
Vláčil studied art history at Masaryk University in Brno. His main work, the historical film Marketa Lazarová (1967) based on Vladislav Vančura, is considered to be a highlight of Czech cinema.
He is buried in the Malvazinky cemetery.
