Lothar Bellag (born November 27, 1930 in Berlin ; † August 8, 2001 ) was a German actor and director who was best known for working for television in the GDR .

Life

Bellag studied acting at the Mendelssohn Academy in Leipzig from 1947 to 1949 . Until 1962 he was first an actor in Rostock and at the Theater der 800 , today Theater an der Parkaue in Berlin, from 1954 actor and director at the Berliner Ensemble . Since 1962 he was employed as a director for German television and television in the GDR.

Since 1958 he has been Vice President and since 1980, as successor to Andrew Thorndike, President of the Association of Film and Television Creators of the GDR and since 1969 a member of the Academy of the Arts . In 1968 and 1987 he was awarded the GDR National Prize.
