Wera kitchen master , b. Skupin (born October 18, 1929 in Berlin , † April 6, 2013 in Blankensee ), was a German writer .

Life

Wera Skupin was born in 1929 as the daughter of the communist carpenter Boleslaw Czekalla and the employee Gertrud Skupin. She attended school in Berlin and passed the school leaving examination there. In 1949 she began studying at the German Theater Institute in Weimar . There she met her future husband Claus Küchenmeister , whom she married in 1952.

From 1951 to 1954 she was a master class student at the Berliner Ensemble Bertolt Brechts , where, in addition to her work as an assistant director, she was also involved in setting up the party organization . In 1960 she received a diploma from the East Berlin German Academy of the Arts for her work with the Berliner Ensemble . Wera Küchenmeister worked as a dramaturge and from 1963 to 1966 as a lecturer at the German Academy for Film Art in Potsdam-Babelsberg . From 1966 to 1968 she was chief dramaturge at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater in East Berlin , from 1969 to 1973 secretary of the film advisory board at the Ministry of Culture and from 1973 to 1976 she was responsible for artistic film in the main film administration of the Ministry of Culture. From 1975 worked as a scenarioist for the DEFA feature film studio .

She and her husband Claus worked under the code names "Sonja" and "Kaminski" at the latest from 1964 with interruption until 1979 for the Ministry for State Security of the GDR.

Wera chef wrote beside numerous screenplays for the DEFA since the fifties novels , children's books and poetry .

Most of her literary works were created in collaboration with her husband Claus Küchenmeister .

Wera Küchenmeister was a member of the GDR Writers' Association from 1957 to 1990 , and has been a member of the board since 1968. In 1990 she became a member of the Association of German Writers . She received u. a. The following awards: 1958 the Ernst Zinna Prize, 1949 the Heinrich Greif Prize , 1964 the GDR Medal of Merit , 1965 the Clara Zetkin Medal , 1968 the Erich Weinert Medal , 1971 the National Prize 1st Class and the Art Prize of the FDGB and 1980 the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver. She received the National People's Army Medal of Merit in Silver in 1970.

She last lived with her husband in Ludwigsfelde-Siethen and died in April 2013.
