The children's film remained the director's only feature film production.

action

On a beautiful sunny day, Thomas from class 4a has to take the Berlin subway to one stop to get to school. But the day is too good to spend at school. So he decides to take the subway a little further and stroll through Berlin. He discovered a fire in the apartment and alerted the fire brigade . In this way he becomes a lifesaver for two small children who were in the apartment.

When the fire department wants to write down his name, he runs away. The next day the newspaper published a report on the heroic deed of the unknown boy and the teacher spoke about it in Thomas' class too. Thomas, however, cannot reveal himself because he lied to the teacher that he could not come to school the day before because of a toothache.

In the end, the fire brigade and the two rescued children can find him. They want to thank him for what he did and Thomas now admits that he skipped school and even lied to the teacher.

Reviews

“A lovable, partially too didactic children's film about a dreamy boy who understands responsibility and his environment, who learns that there is a difference between a dreamer who loves discovery and skips school and a true lazy man. With numerous authentic Berlin images that indicate the director's origins in the documentary sector. "

Others

In the film, historical residential buildings on Fischerinsel are shown at the location of the apartment fire, which were completely demolished a little later in the course of the new development of the quarter.
