Füruzan (born October 29, 1935 in İstanbul ; actually Füruzan Selçuk ) is one of the most famous writers in Turkey .

Selçuk's father died early; she was unable to complete her schooling. Since 1956 she has been writing short stories and short stories that are published in various magazines. In the same year she married the Turkish cartoonist Turhan Selçuk .

She has published under her first name since 1968. Novels followed . Her works always revolve around arms, women and children.

In 1975 she came to Germany as a guest of the DAAD's Berlin artist program , where she stayed until 1981 and wrote reports on the lives of Turkish migrant workers .

Honors

She has received several prizes for her work: the Sait Faik Literature Prize (1972) and the prize of the Turkish language society Türk Dil Kurumu in 1975.
