action

Lona Vogt receives a letter that is actually addressed to her father. The letter contains an invitation to a secret meeting on a boat at Schwanitzer Hafen. Instead of her father, Lona goes there and unintentionally activates a time bomb. The meeting was a trap. She calls Hauke Jacobs and asks for quick help. However, he cannot defuse the bomb, but comes up with an idea. He floods the boat in the hope that the water will weaken the pressure wave. Shortly before the explosion, Lona asks him for a kiss, which Hauke grants her. However, his plan only partially works. Although the explosion is weakened, Lona is still critically injured and then falls into a coma. Jule and Hauke are shocked, but then do everything they can to find the perpetrator and bring them to justice - just like Lona's father Reimar Vogt. Thanks to his connections from his active time with the Federal Intelligence Service, he succeeds in tracking down the person responsible very specifically. He had spent the last few years taking out all the old agents who had made life difficult for him in the past and who were responsible for the attack on his wife. He had, however, a overlooked, who now wanted to kill Reimar Vogt before being found by him. Since Hauke Jacobs also tracks down the man, he can prevent Vogt from shooting him.

Hauke Jacobs finds out through his investigation that Lona was on the trail of a murder plan, her last notes revolve around a dangerous poison. When the foreman Feitinger is poisoned on the estate of the large farmer Müller, the situation comes to a head. Jacobs and his colleague Jule Christiansen had already noticed through their veterinary work on the horse farm that the farm owner's wife has a very close relationship with her brother. On closer inspection, however, Claudia Müller is not Björn Schneider's sister, but the two are actually a couple. Further research reveals that there were poisoned chocolates in the manor house that were intended for Claudia Müller's husband and that the foreman was accidentally a victim. This "mishap" is now very hard on Claudia Müller and she blames herself. In addition, she has to admit that she has even fallen in love with Stefan Müller and no longer wants to stick to the old plan to inherit him prematurely. When she confesses this to her accomplice, he gets angry and wants to shoot his rival. Fatally, however, he has just poisoned his wife himself, as he had to suspect that otherwise he would become a victim after all. So his wife's unexpected confession of love hits him twice as hard, but it's too late.

In the hospital, a decision is emerging for the seriously injured Lona Vogt. So far they have kept the things in life alive, because only through these "unfinished" things has their body refused to die. The frequent visits by Jacobs and Christiansen, as well as the often recurring sound of a melody that she has come to love, ultimately let her wake up from her coma.

background

North by North West - Things of Life was filmed from September 11 to October 10, 2018 in Travemünde including the Priwall peninsula , on the island of Fehmarn , in Hamburg as well as in Klein Nordende and Seester near Elmshorn .

The studio recordings were particularly complex this time and a cutter was built especially for it, as well as water tanks installed that flooded the boat. The actors and camera department spent an entire day shooting in the water. (According to Hinnerk Schönemann at a talk show, it was warm and quite pleasant.)

Mehmet Ösker, who has a different job in each Nord bei Nordwest episode, this time works as a temporary worker at the Müller horse farm.

criticism

Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv said: "" Things in life "is like the anticipation of an announced death. The film begins in a very exciting way. In the cabin scene, director Markus Imboden takes almost as much narration time for the five minutes of narration. Among other things, it is filled with a tender moment that will form the basis for the following 75 minutes of film, in which the active, emotionally troubled heroes plunge into the investigation work. "

The star rated: “The crime series thrives on the mixture of picturesque dune landscapes and angular characters. Especially Schönemann is convincing in the role of the taciturn loner who doesn't quite know how to deal with burgeoning feelings for his colleague. But the actors do not comfort the fact that the TV crime thriller [...] is not really getting going. "

Tilmann P. Gangloff wrote on evangelisch.de : “The story is intricate in an appealing way, but the implementation is harmless to conventional; the film was directed by Markus Imboden. The Swiss is one of the few directors to whom Schmidt unconditionally entrusts his scripts, because he can rely on them being implemented in a congenial manner. "
