Rainer Furch

Rainer Furch (born July 30, 1964 in Neuwied ) is a German actor .

Life

Rainer Furch grew up in Kirn . After graduating from high school, he studied German, English and philosophy from 1983 to 1988 at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . During this time, Furch worked as a freelancer in the editorial offices of the Mainzer Allgemeine Zeitung and the Rhein-Zeitung as well as in the "Theater and Music" editorial department at ZDF . During these years he also made his first acting experiences in the youth theater ensemble of the Mainz lower house . After completing his studies, Furch went to Munich and received his artistic training at the New Munich Drama School there from 1989 to 1992. In the 1992/93 season he had his first engagement at the National Theater in Munich , where he played the son of the title character in Krzysztof Penderecki's opera Ubu Rex under the direction of August Everding . A three-year commitment to the Badische Landesbühne in Bruchsal followed before Furch went to the Württembergische Landesbühne Esslingen from 1997 to 2001 . Since 2001 he has been a member of the ensemble of the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern .

Well-known roles in his career to date have been Karl Moor in The Robbers by Friedrich Schiller , Stephen Kowalski in Tennessee Williams ' Endstation Sehnsucht or the title role in Goethe's Faust at the Badische Landesbühne. Furch also played the latter in Esslingen, as well as Gunter in the Nibelungen by Friedrich Hebbel and the Dr. Stockmann in Ibsen’s enemy of the people . At the Pfalztheater the audience has seen him so far as Orgone in Molières Tartuffe , he embodied Fritz Walter in Die Helden von Bern by Klaus Stawecki and Raymond Tarabay , was Petruchio in The Taming of the Shakespeare , Werner Heisenberg in Michael Frayn's play in Copenhagen , King Philipp in Schiller's Don Karlos , George in "Who is Afraid of Virginia Woolf?", Prospero in "Der Sturm", Macbeth in "Macbeth" and Hagen in "Die Nibelungen".

In addition, Rainer Furch also writes and directs. He wrote the monologues Hand auf Herz and Fritz Wunderlich and I , which were premiered at the Pfalztheater, as well as the tragic comedy Ach Achim , which premiered in Esslingen . Among other projects, he directed Brundibár , a children's opera by Hans Krása and Adolf Hoffmeister , and a version of Mozart's Magic Flute in the Kaiserslautern collegiate church.

Furch made his comrade debut in 1993 in the short film Und Tschüss . Since the mid-2000s he has been present on television more often, for example in episodes of the Tatort series and as a guest at SOKO Cologne , in Ein Fall für Zwei or at the Pfefferkörnern . In 2014 he played the driving instructor Hubert in the multi-award-winning television film A Gift from the Gods .

Rainer Furch is married to the author Madeleine Giese and lives in Kaiserslautern.
