Siebenbuchen nature reserve

The Siebenbuchen nature reserve with a size of 593.74  hectares is located north of Meerhof in the urban area of Marsberg in the Hochsauerland district . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan . The NSG is cut roughly in the middle by the federal highway 45 . The NSG has been part of the European bird sanctuary since 2004 (abbreviation bird sanctuary) Egge , under NR. DE-4419-401, in the Natura 2000 protected area system of the European Union with a size of 7177 ha. The area of ​​the bird sanctuary has also been part of the Fauna-Flora-Habitat-Area (FFH) Marschallshagen and Nonnenholz (Natura 2000-Nr. DE-4519-306) in the European nature reserve system according to Natura 2000 with a size of 1532 ha since 2004 .

The Apfelbaumgrund nature reserve is surrounded by the Siebenbuchen nature reserve . The northern border of the NSG is also the district boundary to the Paderborn district . In the Paderborn district, the Marschallshagen and Nonnenholz nature reserve borders with the upper Altenau valley . The NSG is owned by the state forest of Büren. The Merrhof forest adventure trail is protected as a grandfather in the NSG.

The NSG comprises a red beech or mixed beech forest. Black stork , red kite , black woodpecker and gray woodpecker breed in the area .
