Fettküche nature reserve
The Fettküche nature reserve with a size of 0.7 hectares is located directly south of the federal highway 7 between Rösenbeck and Bredelar in the urban area of Marsberg . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan .
Area description
The NSG is a poor grassland area. Endangered plant species occur in the area. The NSG is grazed with cattle. To the south of the NSG are arable land.
Protection purpose
The NSG is supposed to protect the grassland. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
Conservation measures
In 2015, the entire area of the NSG was purchased by the North Rhine-Westphalia Foundation for Nature Conservation, Heritage and Cultural Preservation (NRW Foundation). The Association for Nature and Bird Protection in the Hochsauerlandkreis looks after the area on behalf of the NRW Foundation.
