from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Buchenberg nature reserve with a size of 21.53  hectares is located northeast of Niedermarsberg in the urban area of Marsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan . The Ohmberg / Bilstein nature reserve is only separated from the NSG by a narrow, steep grassland valley to the west.

description

The NSG comprises a young to medium- old mixed red beech forest on a limestone ridge that extends from north to south.

The limestone cliffs in the NSG represent valuable refuge biotopes for limestone-loving plant species. The plant community of limestone cliffs and beech forests in the hilltop area of the area is valuable in terms of vegetation.

value

The database of the State Office for Nature, Environment and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia writes about the NSG: “The value is determined by the extensive hardwood stocks and the plant communities of lime-loving mixed beech forests, which occupy almost the entire area.” And “The area is an important stepping stone biotope in the network of lime-loving beech forests , which represent a rare type of biotope in the predominantly siliceous Sauerland.
