Leitmarer Felsen nature reserve

The Leitmarer Felsen nature reserve with a size of 23.57  hectares is located south of Marsberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Arnsberg district government in 1985 . The NSG was re-designated in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan. Since 2004, the NSG has been one of three parts of the Fauna-Flora-Habitat Area (FFH) Leitmarer Felsen (Natura 2000-Nr. DE-4519-306) in the European system of protected areas according to Natura 2000 with a size of 588 ha. The other two parts of the FFH areaHengesberg nature reserve and the Emmese nature reserve . The NSG borders directly on Landstrasse 549 in the west.

Limestone forms the subsurface of the NSG . The NSG includes a beech forest . In the NSG there are up to 12 m high rocks and rubble. In the NSG there is a former stone with a 40 wide and 10 m high rock wall. There are grassland areas on the western edge.
