Gelber Bruch nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gelber Bruch nature reserve with a size of 2.52  hectares is located south of Borntosten in the urban area of Marsberg in the Hochsauerland district . It was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan . The NSG is located in the southwest on the state border with Hesse .

description

The NSG comprises a mosaic of lean and species-rich grasslands and trees through which the K 64 road runs. Directly at the sports field there is a lime grass lawn where some rock comes to light and a field. The limestone grasslands are largely unused. Separated by grassland and arable land, as well as by the K 64, lies an area with poor grassland to the west. According to the landscape plan, areas with arable land and fat grassland were included in the NSG as buffer areas or rounding off areas.

In the NSG breed Whitethroat and Red-backed Shrike .

Protection purpose

The NSG is intended to protect the species-rich grassland there. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
