Célestin-Marie Gaoua (born April 6, 1957 in Wahala , Plateaux region , Togo ) is a Togolese clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Sokodé .

Life

Célestin-Marie Gaoua entered the boys' seminar of the Atakpamé diocese in 1972 and after graduating, acquired the university entrance qualification at the state high school. He studied at the seminary in Ouidah ( Benin ) and received on 27 December 1986, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After being ordained a priest, he worked at the boys' seminary and from 1991 as rector of the pre-seminary in Atakpamé . From 1994 to 1999 he stayed in France for further studies, where he was temporarily active as a pastor in Montigny-lès-Metz . After his return in 2000 he went to the diocese of Sokobé as a Fidei donum priest. Here he was cathedral priest at the Cathedral of Sainte Thérèse until 2009 . From 2009 to 2015 he was the Regens of the National Philosophical Seminary Benedict XVI. in the diocese of Kara .

On January 3, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Sokodé. The Apostolic Nuncio in Togo, Archbishop Brian Udaigwe , donated him episcopal ordination on March 5th of the same year.
