The diocese of Sokodé ( Latin Dioecesis Sokodensis ) is a diocese in Togo , the bishopric is the cathedral in Sokodé . The diocese covers 12,610 km² and has 1,136,000 inhabitants, of which approx. 13.5% are Roman Catholic. In 2004, 24 diocesan priests and 8 religious priests worked in the 11 parishes of the archdiocese .

history

The diocese of Sokodé was separated from the Apostolic Vicariate of Togo on May 18, 1937 as the Apostolic Prefecture . On September 14, 1955, the Apostolic Prefecture was elevated to a diocese. The dioceses of Dapaong (1960 as Apostolic Prefecture Dapango) and Kara (1994) were detached from the diocese of Sokodé.
